VOLUNTEER AT THE MARSHFIELD ANIMAL SHELTER

Duties include:

  • Emptying the donation bin and sorting and placing donated items in the appropriate storage area

  • Washing, drying and folding laundry and placing clean laundry in the storage areas

  • Periodically reorganizing storage areas

  • Washing, drying and putting away pet food bowls

  • Scooping out or changing over cat litter boxes

  • Picking up waste in the dog yard and indoor/outdoor kennels

  • Cleaning out and disinfecting cat cages, dog kennels and small animal cages and refreshing bedding

  • Preparing food and medication for the pets

  • Sweeping and washing floors

  • Periodically raking leaves

  • You may be required to lift up to 50 pounds

Preference is given to applicants that can commit to one shift per week on a year-round basis. Biweekly and short-term schedules cannot be accommodated.

Volunteers ages 5 to 16 are permitted but must either be accompanied by a parent volunteer or be able to drive and have their own transportation.

Shift times are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - 9 Am and 4 PM; Thursday - 10 AM and 4 PM; Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 10AM and 5 PM. Shifts last one to one and one-half hours, and may vary according to the size of the shelter population.

All applicants will be subject to a criminal background check.

Interested individuals should complete our volunteer application. If planning to volunteer with a school age, minor child, the application must be completed by the parent/guardian and the minor child is then listed on the application where required.
